Provincial EV Incentive: How It Works
For electric vehicles, including battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), the incentive program offers the following:
- Incentives: Up to $4,000 for new and $2,500 for pre-owned electric vehicles.
- Eligibility: Vehicles must have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of less than $70,000 and be less than 4 years old (model year 2021 or newer in 2024).
- Rebate Determination: Rebates are determined at the time of registration with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI), starting July 1, 2024.
- Qualifying Purchases: Purchases made between August 1, 2023, and March 31, 2026.
- Dealership Requirement: Vehicles must be purchased or leased through a Manitoba dealership.
- Lease Proportionality: For leased vehicles, the rebate is proportional to the length of the lease.
- Limit: One incentive per registered vehicle owner and vehicle, cheque received after payment from MPI
